LA MAIN DE L'ESPOIR
PROJECT BRIEF
This is the flagship project of the RCF, which was officially launched 26th August 2021.
The Prosthetic Hand Program – ‘La Main de L’Espoir’ , aims to help restore functionality in people who have missing a hand either from birth or have lost their hand due to disease or traumatic incident, irrespective of their socioeconomic status of ability to pay.
This project is carried out by RCF in collaboration with Earwyn Global Ltd, Global Rainbow Foundation, Tangience Foundation (India), Rotary Club of Bangalore Prime, Rotary Club of Hosur Lake View and Ellen Meadows Foundation (USA).
PROJECT IMPACT
Through this Project, RCF has been able to change the lives of many persons in the community, by providing them prosthetic hands free of charge, thus empowering them in carrying out their daily activities independently.
PROJECT UPDATE
RCF aims to extend the project to District 9220 and other regions in the Indian Ocean.

ROTARY NATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD
PROJECT BRIEF
This is a national project with the partnership of Rotary Club of St-Pierre and the University of Mauritius. The first edition of the project started in 2016 and has been carried out for 3 consecutive years. More than 250 HSC students from various colleges participated in it.
The project involved:
Completing of a Mathematics questionnaire within a prescribed time.
Team of 3 students per college participating in a Mathematics quiz.
Questions were prepared by the Rotarians with Mathematical knowledge and with the help of the University of Mauritius as moderators.
This has been a land mark project of the club, well perceived by all stakeholders.
PROJECT IMPACT
Through this Project, RCF has been able to empower HSC students' knowledge in addressing mathematical solutions and hence, preparing them for their final examinations.
PROJECT UPDATE
The project came to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but RCF shall embark on same anew soon.
MEGA HEALTH DAY PROJECT
PROJECT BRIEF
It is a regional project for people the Eastern region.
Under this Project, RCF provides the following to the community, free of cost:
Free eyes check up
Free diabetes test
Blood donation
Breast cancer screening
Talks and education of non-communicable disease.
PROJECT IMPACT
Through this Project RCF has enabled people of the community to detect potential diseases and to follow up on same. Free health advice and health screening has sensitized the community on the need to take care of their health.
PROJECT UPDATE
RCF embarks on such health projects on a regular basis, and intends to do it further with the partnership of other Rotary Clubs, on a wider scale.
RCF acknowledges the importance of health and thus a Commission has been instituted to follow up on same.
ADULT LITERACY PROJECT - "ANU AL APRAN"
PROJECT BRIEF
Launched in September 2016, the project was conducted in the region of Palmar with 25 participants and extended to other region in the Eastern region.
RCF partnered with Centre du Savoir and dispensed courses to provide education to adults. More that 100 participants attended the Adult Literacy Project.
The courses comprised of:
Level l - Basic Adult Literacy
Level 2 - Intermediate Adult Literacy
The main objectives of the courses were:
To read and write simple sentences
To form small paragraphs
Apply numbers in daily life
Use of ICT for simple operation
Communicate effectively
Build self-confidence and self-esteem
PROJECT IMPACT
Through this Project, RCF has impacted the lives of more than 100 persons by empowering them via free education and thus, increasing literacy rate in the community. Through the services provided, these beneficiaries are now able to read and write and communicate more efficiently.

This is an ongoing Project, followed up by the Commission on education at the RCF level.
